15 Easy Paint and Sip Ideas for Beginners (That Actually Wow a Crowd)

The best paint and sip ideas aren't the most complicated — they're the ones beginners can finish proudly in a two-hour session. Here are 15 that consistently sell out.

After teaching 1000+ hours of paint and sip events, I've learned that the painting itself is only half the equation. The other half is whether your beginners feel confident enough to keep their brush moving — and proud enough of the result to post it on Instagram.

These 15 ideas check both boxes. They look impressive on the wall, they photograph beautifully, and they can all be taught comfortably in a 2-hour session with a glass of wine in hand.

1. Sunset Silhouette Landscape

A horizon line, two or three blended colours, and a single black silhouette on top. It's the painting that taught a thousand beginners they could actually do this — and it never stops working.

2. Bumble Bee on a Sunflower

Bright yellows, a chunky brush, and a bee that looks adorable even when it isn't perfect. Great for spring and summer marketing.

3. Beach Babe in a Straw Hat

A back-of-the-head portrait means no facial features to stress about. Beginners love how 'finished' it looks even though every step is genuinely simple.

4. Blue Whale Under the Stars

A whimsical silhouette painting with a dreamy galaxy background. Perfect for family-friendly events and date nights.

5. Buddha Stencil Painting

We use a stencil for the main figure so every painting looks polished, then guests bring it to life with their own colour palette. Great for wellness studios and meditation-themed events.

6. Colourful Frida Kahlo Portrait

Bold, modern, and high-energy. The stencil takes the pressure off, and the floral crown is where guests get to play with colour.

7. Jellyfish on Black Canvas

Painting on black canvas instantly feels more grown-up. Layered translucent washes give a glowing underwater effect with very little technique required.

8 to 15. More crowd favourites

Round out your menu with abstract pour-style florals, a cosy cabin in the snow, a single statement tulip, lavender fields, a galaxy moon, a desert cactus scene, a watercolour-style hot air balloon, and a minimalist line-art couple.

Mix one 'cute', one 'cosy', one 'bold', and one 'dreamy' each month and you'll cover almost every audience that walks through the door.
